On May 23rd, Curbed Seattle gave readers the opportunity to “Meet Mercer Island’s $6.9M ‘Maison des Volets,'” an extraordinary waterfront estate represented by Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty broker Jay Kipp. As Sean Keeley notes, “when you’re talking about Mercer Island waterfront mansions, you already know you’re going to be talking about something fancy. When that Mercer Island waterfront mansion has a name…well now we’re in a whole other stratosphere.” It is no surprise that Keeley describes the property as in its own stratosphere, as every inch of the grounds stun, from the exceptional west facing views with 61 feet of low-bank waterfront to exquisite touches and fine materials and craftsmanship.

When putting the home into words, Keeley writes, “translated as House of Shutters, the property is described as ‘a synergy of structure and site.’ That site being .41-acres right on the Gold Coast. The listing also says that the design is meant to ‘evoke the earthy elegance of Provence,’ which certainly comes through thanks to a rustic but luxurious aesthetic.” Given its understated grandeur and rare, protected views, Keeley says “this estate could be one of the island’s shining examples.”
